Fuquay-Varina, NC colloquially known as “Fuquay” (pronounced few-kway) is a quaint, small town in the Southwest corner of Wake County. Some parts of the town also extend into neighboring Harnett County. Created by the merging of two nearby towns, Fuquay and Varina, the town now boasts two separate and distinct historic downtown districts.
With a community center hosting plenty of classes and activities, a splash park, dog park, walking trails, and close proximity to plenty of shopping, this small, friendly town has lots to recommend it!
The Splash Pad is a great place to cool off in the summertime! South Park also has a track for walking, walking trails, a covered picnic area with picnic benches and a playground.
2. Check out the Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Park ~ This 28 acre park was donated for the purpose of environmental education and is a great place to see the local flaura and fauna and hike on 2 miles of nature trails.
3. Fuquay-Varina Museum District – this small but quaint museum complex “consists of five museums: The First Fuquay Post Office, the “Squire” Ballentine Schoolhouse, the Centennial Museum, the Tobacco Barn, and the Johnson Playhouse. We await the sixth museum: The Norfolk Southern Caboose #375.”
