A little bit about Chapel Hill

Chapel Hill is one of the three major cities making up the Triangle region of North Carolina. Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill make a literal “triangle” on the map, responsible for the regionally known name “The Triangle.” The city of Chapel Hill is located in both Durham and Orange Counties. As of 2016, the population of Chapel Hill was approximately 59,000 people. That population does include all UNC Chapel Hill students living on campus or within the city limits of Chapel Hill. With the University’s population of 29,000, the student population is significant in the makeup of the city.

Residents of Chapel Hill enjoy a variety of amenities, including a vibrant downtown area with numerous shops, restaurants, and bars. There are also several parks and greenways in the area, including the popular Chapel Hill Community Center Park and the Bolin Creek Trail. Additionally, Chapel Hill is home to several cultural institutions, such as the Ackland Art Museum and the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.

What sets Chapel Hill apart from other towns in the Triangle area is its strong sense of community and its reputation as a liberal and progressive town. The town has a rich history of activism and social justice, and it is home to many diverse and inclusive communities.

UNC Chapel Hill is one of the most notable landmarks in the area. The university is known for its beautiful campus, which features stunning architecture and a rich history dating back to the Revolutionary War. It is also home to many famous landmarks, such as the Old Well and the Davie Poplar tree.

Chapel Hill is located about 20 miles west of Raleigh and 10 miles east of Durham, which makes it an ideal location for those who work or study in either city. Additionally, the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is located just a short drive away, which makes it easy for residents to travel to other parts of the country or the world.

When it comes to restaurants, Chapel Hill has something for everyone. Some of the most popular options include Merritt’s Store and Grill, which serves up delicious sandwiches and milkshakes, and Al’s Burger Shack, which is known for its mouth-watering burgers and fries. Other popular options include The Root Cellar Cafe & Catering, which specializes in farm-to-table cuisine, and Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery, which serves up delicious beer and pub fare.

In terms of shopping, Chapel Hill is home to several charming boutiques and specialty stores, such as Uniquities, which offers a carefully curated selection of women’s clothing and accessories, and The Chelsea Theater, which is a beloved local movie theater that screens independent and foreign films. The town is also home to several major shopping centers, such as University Place and Meadowmont Village, which offer a variety of shops and restaurants.
