We Left Holly Springs and We’re Moving to…. Wendell!!
This post is going to be a little more personal. But it’s really good to share things from a different perspective. Being in the Realtor seat is so different than being in the buyer/seller seat. But it finally happened. Holly Springs got too crowded and we decided to move. Actually, that wasn’t it. After years of wanting to be closer to our daughter and her littles… the right house finally showed up. Sometimes the stars just need to align a little bit because we were asking for a lot. We’re building a beautiful presale home on three acres in Wendell, North Carolina. They just opened lots in this community and we snatched that baby up because we know what happens when you wait on good/hard to find properties.
The hardest part about this search is that we really didn’t want to be in an HOA. And builders are getting in tune to this need in the market. This builder, RiverWILD, realized they were getting a lot of requests from buyers who don’t want to be constrained by HOA’s. We hear a it a lot in our business as well. So RiverWILD decided that for their properties in the county, they would relax the restrictions. Some of you may know this, but almost 20 years ago we had a small farm in Granville County. We grew almost all of our own food…. chickens, ducks, vegetable garden. Even a milk cow. The whole nine yards. But it was too far and too much work for that stage of life. But we’re finally getting our second chance! The property has 3 FULL acres, 2 of them wooded and completely private….which means I have 47 future projects already planned on my Pinterest board for Timothy. There is an architectural design committee (so your neighbor can’t paint their house the color of a traffic cone), but the covenants are refreshingly relaxed. We can have chickens and goats if we want them. That will probably have to wait until we’re closer to retirement because real estate doesn’t sleep. But at least it’s an option. We close in early November, and I cannot even tell you how excited we are.
We are one of the first presale homes in this neighborhood, which means if this sounds like your kind of situation — a little land, a little freedom, and a lot of fresh air — you should absolutely reach out to us, because the good lots go fast and I will tell you everything I know.

Wendell Traffic: The Town Is Done Waiting on DOT
Growing Pains, Big Plans, and a Mayor Who’s Had Just About Enough of Facebook
Here’s a number that stopped me cold: Wendell has gone from 10,000 residents to 21,000 in just six years — and y’all, that’s not growth, that’s a whole entire town showing up on another town’s doorstep. When you double in size that fast, everybody feels it immediately and personally: the school pickup line, the one stoplight, the road that used to take four minutes and now takes fifteen. So instead of waiting on DOT and commiserating in the comment section, Wendell’s town council unanimously approved a $1.27 million investment to redesign the intersections at Wendell Falls Parkway, Eagle Rock Road, and the Eagle Rock extension — holding developer funds and coordinating one unified overhaul rather than enduring a decade of piecemeal construction misery.
The Mayor also took a moment to suggest — with the patient energy of someone who has read one too many Facebook threads — that maybe, just maybe, the town’s actual budget documents would be a more productive outlet than the comment section. And the fact that the Mayor of Wendell is personally keeping tabs on the neighborhood Facebook group is, truly, the most small-town thing I’ve ever heard. I cannot wait to move there.

Devil Dogz vs. Holly Springs Salamanders | June 10, 2026
Y’all, minor league baseball on a Tuesday night is basically a love language, and the Zebulon Devil Dogz are serving it up at Nomaco Park at 6:30pm. It’s the local rivalry we didn’t know we needed — Devil Dogz vs. the Holly Springs Salamanders — and honey, $5 tallboys at every weeknight home game means this is cheaper than therapy AND more fun. Grab your people, slap on some sunscreen, and go enjoy America’s pastime the way it was meant to be enjoyed — outside, a little sweaty, and slightly overserved.
Music & Me at the Farm x Holl & Stone Farms | June 12, 2026
If you have young kids and your Friday morning doesn’t involve singing, rhythm instruments, AND adult beverage specials at a farm in Garner, I’m gonna need you to reconsider your life choices. The Surround Sound School of Music is bringing their adorable Music & Me class (45 minutes of musical magic for the under-5 crowd) out to Holl & Stone Farms, and after class you can wander the grounds, hit the farm store, and get everybody some ice cream like the hero you are. Honestly, this sounds less like a kids’ event and more like the morning I want to have.
A Space Spectacular: Star Wars & More | June 6, 2026
Okay, if you have even one Star Wars fan in your household — child OR adult, I see you — you need to get yourselves to Koka Booth Amphitheatre on June 6th, because the NC Symphony is playing John Williams like it’s their destiny. We’re talking Star Wars, E.T., 2001: A Space Odyssey — basically every movie that made us want to be astronauts in the 80s, performed live under the stars in Cary. Pack a picnic (you could win a $100 Wegmans gift card!), bring your flameless candles, and let the kids loose at the Instrument Zoo while you sip something cold and feel feelings you didn’t expect to have on a Saturday night.

12th Annual Black Bear Festival | June 5–6, 2026
Pack the car, because Plymouth, NC is calling and it has BEARS — well, bear education, bear tours, a Bear-Ology museum, a kids’ bear train, lazy river tubing, pontoon rides on the Roanoke River, live music, AND a drone and fireworks show, all on a gorgeous historic waterfront they lovingly call NC’s Amazon. This is the kind of only-in-Eastern-NC day trip that reminds you why you moved here — or why you should — and it’s basically a full weekend of content for about a two-hour drive. Consider it your June excuse to finally explore that part of the state you keep saying you’re going to visit.
NC Trail Days | June 4–7, 2026
Listen, if your idea of a perfect long weekend involves hiking, biking, paddling the Yadkin River, live music, and a Friday night block party in a charming little mountain-foothills town — Elkin, NC is about to become your new favorite place you didn’t know existed. Tucked between Stone Mountain and Pilot Mountain State Parks and sitting at the intersection of three major trails, this four-day festival is basically an outdoor adventure buffet, and the best part? It’s free. It’s about two hours from the Triangle, it’s absolutely gorgeous, and it’s the kind of day trip that makes you pull up Zillow on the way home — just saying.
Goat Island Games | June 6, 2026
Y’all, Cramerton, NC has a 30-acre island park nestled in the South Fork Catawba River and they throw a whole Olympics on it every June — we’re talking a 5K, a 5-miler, disc golf, mountain biking, a fishing derby, cornhole, ping pong, pickleball, free workouts, sweet treats, and live music, all on one glorious Saturday. It’s about two hours from the Triangle but honestly feels like a world away, and it’s the kind of place where you show up for the cornhole tournament and leave wondering why you don’t live there yet. Pack the crew, lace up whatever shoes fit the vibe, and go give Cramerton the attention it absolutely deserves.
